Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Littlefoot is a three-year-old brown tabby with a tender heart and a gentle soul. Right now, the shelter feels overwhelming to him, so he spends most of his days tucked away in his kennel, trying to feel safe. While he may seem withdrawn at first, this sweet boy isn’t unfriendly—he’s just scared.
Underneath his nervous exterior is a kind, soft-natured cat who wants to trust but needs time, patience, and love to get there. Littlefoot will do best with a calm home and a compassionate adopter who understands that the most rewarding bonds often take time to grow. With consistency and reassurance, there’s no doubt he’ll slowly come out of his shell and show his true, loving personality.
He is also neutered and up to date on all his core vaccinations and monthly preventatives. If you have a quiet home and a big heart, Littlefoot could be the one who blossoms by your side. Sometimes all it takes is one person to help a scared kitty become a happy one. 💛 Give us a call at (740) 314-5583 for more information!

More about this shelter
We are the Jefferson County Humane Society and , except for our humane officers (who are paid very nominally), we are all volunteers! Our members were instrumental in getting a local levy passed to build a new and larger shelter and the doors opened in 2011. We are currently participating in Iams Home for the Holidays Program and the Purina Pets for People grant program. We are actively pursuing other grants and recently have been asked by the county to partner with them in the operation of the new shelter. Since we are a humane society, our main focus is on getting animals spayed and neutered so there are no more homeless pets. To that end, we bring in a mobile animal surgical clinic who performs spays and neuters at a reduced rate. We are always looking for volunteers to help us in our efforts and, of course, for financial contributions (we are a non-profit, 501 (c)3) and pet adopters! Other items such as food, treats, pet carriers, cages, leashes, collars, food bowls, etc. are also ALWAYS welcomed and appreciated. Please contact us if you have an item to be donated or would like to volunteer with us to try to save some of these homeless, but very loveable, dogs!
