My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This little cutie is Brooke. She was born around 11/21/2025. Her mom, Bella looks like a Terrier mix with maybe some Chihuahua and is around 10 lbs. We don't know who her daddy is but expect Brooke to be under 25 lbs full grown. Brooke looks the most Chihuahua of all her siblings. Brook is a sweet, social, playful girl who loves to cuddle and give kisses and to play with her toys and siblings. Given her young age and the cold weather, Brooke has not started on housebreaking yet but she is good about going potty on pads in her puppy pen. Given ger small size, Brooke is not a good fit for a family with children under 5 years old. Contact her foster mom with questions at foster.puppies@hotmail.com or 913-406-9840 or complete an application to potentially set up a meet and greet.

More about this rescue

The Heart of America Humane Society is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit organization helping to place shelter and foster animals into permanent homes in and around the greater Kansas City metro area.

Our goal is to save and improve the lives of Kansas City's homeless companion animals by promoting responsible pet ownership. The Heart of America Humane Society (HAHS) partners with the Lee's Summit Animal Shelter (Lee's Summit MO) and KCK Animal Services (Kansas City KS) to increase pet adoptions into responsible, permanent homes.

Background
Our organization does not have a permanent facility or paid staff, so many of our adoptions take place at PetSmart stores and occasionally through other event venues. Some events raise awareness and bring in donations for our animal support efforts, while others help acknowledge and show appreciation for our own volunteers (who perform all duties outside of their regular jobs). Visit our website to learn more about us at heartofamericahs.org.
