Lula is a gorgeous young girl who just needs a little time and patience to feel safe. New places and new people can be overwhelming for her at first, so her personality takes a bit to come through. When she’s around other cats, though, Lula truly shines. Her sweet, silly, playful side comes out as she wrestles, plays, and has fun with her feline friends.

Having a confident cat companion helps Lula feel brave and learn to trust the people around her. She’s looking for a loving home with a feline playmate who can keep her company, help her settle in, and support her as she blossoms into the fun, affectionate companion she’s meant to be.

An adoption application must be completed. Home ownership verification or landlord/condo association approval is required. For dogs, if there are any dogs currently living in the home, a scheduled and supervised interaction with the prospective dog is required. Additional requirements may apply depending upon the individual animal.

Upon adoption, the adopter is required to sign a contract agreeing to provide the animal with the care and medical treatment he or she needs throughout his or her life. They also must agree to provide the animal with an indoor home and if at any point in the animal's life the adopter is unable to keep the animal, the animal must be returned to the shelter.

The main shelter is located at W6127 Kiesling Rd, Jefferson, WI 53549. We are open to the public from 1pm to 6pm Monday through Saturday.

Our satellite cat adoption facility is located inside of PetSmart West at 8210 Plaza Dr, Madison, WI 53719 and is open during the store hours of 9:00am to 9:00pm Monday through Saturday and 9:00am to 7:00pm on Sunday.

The HSJC is located in Jefferson, Wisconsin and is a small, privately run non-profit shelter that has been in operation since 1922. We recently celebrated our 90th year of caring for dogs, cats, birds and other small animals in need. Each year, close to 1,000 pets find sanctuary at our shelter. We put forth great effort to reunite owners with lost pets and to find good new homes for those who need a second chance. We do not impose a time limit on how long a healthy, adoptable animal may stay with us as they wait to be adopted.
