From our director’s Facebook post, January 24, 2026:
It's time for the Saturday Sneak Peek at Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue, Inc. Available soon...say hello to the cutest Unidentified Furry Object you’ve ever seen! This adorable fuzzball just landed, and he is on a mission to seek out new life and new accommodations. He’s ready to boldly go…anywhere that can give him a lifetime of love and commitment to providing a forever home! Oofo is estimated to be 1-2 years old, and is a mixed breed weighing approximately 30 lbs. – guesses about which breeds he might be include a Spitz-type dog like Pomeranian, Schipperke, and maybe a smidge of Chow Chow, too (donations of DNA kits are always appreciated!).
He has been quiet and well-behaved in his kennel, and may be house trained already. However, if he wants to get your attention, he will bark if you’re ignoring him. He loves to play with toys if you participate, enjoys sitting by his gate and watching things go on around him, and seems to be very smart & playful. He does not mind being neighbors with other dogs, so he may be able to live with other canine companions, too. If you’re looking for intelligent life, you’ve found it in Oofo! We think he's out of this world! You can read more about Oofo and all the available dogs and apply to adopt online at www.caninerescue.org. Prefer to meet in person? Visit the shelter Monday - Saturday 1-3 p.m. at 7540 N. Gale street in Westfield, no appointment needed. Have a question? Email us at adoptions@caninerescue.org.
*Approved applicants are welcome to participate in our popular Slumber Party program and take a dog home for up to 2 weeks to make sure he/she is a great fit.
If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application at www.caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again if you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email us at adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email, as we receive many phone calls each day.
