Cocoa is an 11-month-old pup with the gentlest, most loving soul. She is incredibly sweet, affectionate, and people-oriented, and she truly just wants to be close to her humans. Whether she’s cuddling on the couch, following you around the house, or greeting you with happy tail wags, Cocoa makes every day brighter.
Cocoa and her sister Cypress were brought to a high-kill shelter in Houston, where they were at risk simply for being unwanted. Thankfully, both girls were rescued and are now safe and thriving in a foster home in Amarillo. They can be adopted together or separately — both would do wonderfully in a loving forever home.
Cocoa has a wonderful temperament and an easygoing, friendly nature that makes her a joy to have around. She gets along well with other dogs and would be a perfect fit for a family or an individual looking for a loyal best friend. She is smart, eager to please, and already showing what a well-mannered and devoted companion she will become.
Cocoa is 45 lb, fully vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, and heartworm negative and kept on proheart — she is healthy, vetted, and ready to go home.
Cocoa truly is a dream puppy — full of love, sweetness, and charm — and she is ready to find a forever family where she can be cherished for life. If you’re looking for a gentle, loving, and devoted companion, Cocoa is your girl. 🤍🐶
Her adoption fee of $350 includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter surgery and recovery, heartworm and flea prevention), a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality Harness and Interstate Health Certificate for our out of state adopters.
She is being fostered in Amarillo, Texas, but can travel to many states and even Canada for the right home.
Yards, if any, MUST BE adequately and fully fenced to adopt our pups. We do not accept electric or underground fences.
To meet this sweet pup via facetime or whatsapp or other video chat apps, please send a completed application form via www.savesomesouls.com
Our dogs are fully assessed by foster parents, vets and behaviorists, as well as videos and video chats are available to observe their manners in public. We are extremely transparent and like to share everything negative and positive with the adopters, to ensure it's a good fit and they are not returned to us, as the trips are very stressful on them. We need the parents to be patient and compassionate towards the changes that these pups are undergoing, being taken away from a home they came to know as their own to a new environment. 3-3-3 Rule of Adoption must be followed at all times to make adoption successful.
Houston is home to million strays, many who are abandoned, many born on the streets, many who escaped while living in the yard, which is common in Texas. Since our rescue does not get grants that shelters get, we use adoption fee to help the pups and kitties in our care. Your adoption fee goes towards vetting and feeding our long term and permanent fosters, and unadoptable pups, as well as towards the monthly care and preventatives etc of our pets. By adopting one pup from our rescue, you make room for another dog to be rescued from our high kill shelter, thus becoming an integral part of our mission to save as many unfortunate dogs off the streets and shelters as possible. So Thank You for choosing to rescue, and not go to a breeder.

More about this rescue
Our animal rescue section has been organized with very compassionate and dedicated volunteers whose only goal is to save a pet.
Each day hundreds of healthy, adoptable dogs and cats are euthanized in the kill-shelters of America. In Houston itself, we have the largest population of strays and our shelters are full with strays and abandoned animals including those surrendered by their owners because of reasons such as unwillingness to take care of them, pregnancy, divorce, loss of job, loss of home, prison intake, loss of compassion, empathy, you name it. Add to this, are abandoned pets on the side of the street by owners. Our mission is to give these puppies another chance at love and life. If every person will stop buying from breeders and adopt a shelter pet and spay and neuter them, we will be able to eradicate our euthanasia problem.
