This helps Great Dane Rescue of Minnesota and Wisconsin with pet care costs.
Hi, I’m Dax, a 4-year-old good boy with a playful spirit and a whole lot of love to give. My foster mom says I sometimes play like I’m two — which just means I still know how to have fun.
I love walks and I’m fantastic at the dog park. I genuinely enjoy other dogs and love to play. If a dog is bigger than me, I might give a quick growl at first just to assess the situation, but once I know we’re good, I’m happy to make new friends.
After I’ve gotten my outdoor time, I’m a total homebody. Lounging is my specialty. I enjoy the couch (when I’m allowed), but I’m just as content curled up in a comfy dog bed. I don’t need a kennel — I’ve earned the title of “best boy.”
When I first arrived at my foster home, I was pretty anxious and barked at almost everyone. I do have a big bark, especially when I’m alerting to someone walking by. But I’ve been gaining confidence every day, and I respond well to guidance — especially when my foster mom whistles (there might be treats involved).
I know my commands and I’m happiest when I can follow your lead. I’m very much a shadow dog and love having direction and clear house rules. I’d do best with an assertive, confident owner who helps me feel secure so I don’t feel like I have to be in charge.
I don’t need a fenced yard, but I do need regular walks and outings to stretch my legs and keep me happy. I love rawhides, tug toys, and playing with other dogs.
If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s affectionate, improving every day, and eager to be your right-hand pup, Dax might be your guy.
