My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tubby is a beautiful 2-1/2 year old female Shepherd who was brought to the HSOV on January 14, 2026 along with her sibling (Daisey) for a heartbreaking reason since their beloved owner was no longer physically able to take care of the girls. Sadly their owner passed away a few days after they were entrusted to us with the hope that we could place them together in another loving home.

Tubby has a black medium-haired coat with tan markings on her chest/legs, a long fluffy tail, and an adorable Shepherd face with tan eyebrows, and long slender muzzle, and large ears that she holds erect when she chooses to do so. Tubby's left eye is brown and her right eye is white/brown (commonly known as a 'cracked glass eye') which gives her the appearance of being slightly cross-eyed.

Tubby has a sweet disposition though she is understandably rather nervous about finding herself in a large floor crate these days.

We took preliminary photos of Tubby (and Daisey) in their floor crates on January 19th where they felt most comfortable at that time.

These updated photos of Tubby were taken on January 22, 2026 when HSOV Volunteer Miley Kiggans accompanied her for outdoor glamour pictures. Tubby was a little apprehensive about this new experience but, with Miley by her side, she had the confidence to 'sit pretty' and pose for cute photos. Tubby looked to Miley for moral support and snuggled up as closely as possible for some comforting hugs before returning to her floor crate. Those pictures brought tears to our photographers eyes .. Tubby is a lonely girl who misses her owner and someone to love her again.

This little lady weighs 40 lbs. Tubby doesn't appear have been accustomed to walking on a leash, but she is an intelligent girl who will quickly master that new skill with help from our compassionate HSOV kennel techs and volunteers.

Tubby and Daisey are being listed as a bonded pair since we feel that it is in their best interest to remain together.

Tubby and Daisey will be spayed before being adopted by their new family (a requirement for HSOV adoptions to be finalized). They could be fostered while they await their spay procedures so that they could enjoy a real home environment again.

Please complete an HSOV foster/adoption application and submit for approval if you would like to foster/adopt these sweet Shepherd girls.
