Meet Millie
1 year old | German Pinscher mix | Female | Very High Energy:
Millie doesn’t just walk through life — she runs, bounds, and springs her way through it. Everywhere she goes is an adventure, and she approaches it like she’s on her own personal obstacle course. Her athleticism is impressive, and her energy is endless.
At just a year old, she is still very much puppy-brained — curious, clever, and occasionally mischievous. She is extremely smart and already showing how quickly she can learn when given structure and guidance. Since coming into rescue, she has learned to sit, wait for her food, and will go down (sometimes with a little reluctance). She’s improving on leash, though she prefers to lead from the very front and can pull when excited. If she encounters something unfamiliar, she may stop short — she’s brave, but also a bit unsure of the world.
Her Personality:
Millie is:
-
Very high energy
-
Incredibly agile and athletic
-
Always on the move (she bounds more than she walks!)
-
Food motivated
-
Deeply attached to her person
-
Mischievous and clever
-
Insecure and prone to anxiety when left alone
She wants to be with her person at all times. She thrives on closeness and predictability. Without enough physical and mental stimulation, she will absolutely create her own fun — and it may involve rearranging your household.
A Little Background:
Millie was picked up as a stray after someone reported she bit them. No skin was broken, and the shelter suspected the reporting party may have been her previous owner. Since being in rescue, she has not shown aggression but can react when she feels uncertain. She is a sensitive girl who needs clear leadership and trust-building.
What Millie Needs to Thrive:
Millie is not a first-time dog. She will need:
-
An experienced owner comfortable with training and behavior work
-
Continued positive reinforcement training
-
Clear, consistent boundaries
-
Significant daily exercise (both mental and physical)
-
A predictable routine
A home with older, calm children only would be best. She struggles with loose boundaries and needs structure to feel secure.
Millie would absolutely shine in:
-
Agility training
-
Canine sports
-
Advanced obedience
-
Active hiking or running homes
She has the intelligence, drive, and athletic ability to excel — she just needs the right guidance.
The Right Home:
We are committed to placing Millie where she will truly succeed. The right home will see beyond her insecurities and recognize the incredible potential in this bright, bouncy girl.
With structure, exercise, and patience, Millie will become an intensely loyal, devoted companion. If you’re looking for a smart, spirited dog who will keep you moving and bond deeply to her person — Millie may be your girl.
