My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

NOTE: Sophie and Mouse are a bonded pair, meaning they will be adopted out together. As such, you need only apply ONCE for either cat.

Viewable in Shelter: No, in staff-only area. Apply online to potentially meet them in person.

Meet Sophie & Mouse!

A recent surrender, this mother-daughter duo are eagerly awaiting their forever home. Sophie, with her big paws, majestic ear tufts, and friendly personality, is the perfect foil to her shyer kitten, Mouse. She doesn't ask for much -- just a warm lap to curl up in, a window (or two) in which to watch the world go by, and a loving family to dote on her.

Like any kitten, Mouse has plenty of energy to play! Just give her a little time to warm up, and this curious tortie will charm and delight you with her quirky personality. She enjoys cuddling up next to mom, riding around on shoulders, and chasing her tail. We are seeking indoor-only homes (catio time and/or supervised, leashed activities are fine) for this bonded pair.

Thank you for your interest in adopting! Do you think you could be Sophie & Mouse's person? Apply today!

TIP: To aid our team in making the best match possible, applicants are encouraged to write a little bit about themselves when prompted.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
