My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

--FOSTER PUPDATE--
Wintermint A180767
49 lb. neutered male, approx 1 yr old

-this sweet, shy boy affectionately goes by the name Oscar in his foster home
-came into our care extremely broken, terrified, trembling and afraid of the world. As if that weren't enough, he also had terrible skin, suffering from demodex mange and a huge open scab on the top of his head. This poor boy had a crappy life up until this point
-has spent a month in foster, where we've allowed him time to heal, to open up, to trust and to learn that humans are nice
-can be nervous when meeting new people, but when you give him a little time he will be the biggest cuddle bug and will be your best friend
-is playful and friendly with other dogs, also has done great with the resident cat and has not exhibited a prey drive
-does great in a crate when his foster family is away and has been making good progress with housetraining (he isn't a huge fan of freezing temps, likely due to living that life for far too long...can't really blame him)
-walks very well on a leash and rides like a dream in the car, he just needs a little help getting in and out
-the more time we spent with him, we started to notice he was walking a bit funny and not always wanting to fully use his back leg. After a vet visit and some xrays, it was determined that he has hip dysplasia in his right hip and will need FHO surgery in the future. However, that cost will be FULLY covered by Friends of DACC, it will cost his adopter NOTHING (just a little extra time and effort, but it will totally be worth it)
-please keep in mind that he may potentially need a couple meetings with his new family, in order to make him comfortable. As his foster, I want to make this as easy for him and for his new family

This pet is in a foster home! If you are interested in meeting Wintermint please email foster@friendsofdacc.org with subject line “Wintermint A180767”
