If you see pets listed by a private owner, it means that they’re adoptable through Adopt a Pet’s Rehome program – the safe and reliable way to find a loving new home for your pet.
Chet is a 5-year-old Schnauzer with a big personality and energy. He thrives on play, routine, and being part of an engaged family. He would do best in an active home, ideally with children who enjoy interacting with him and giving him attention.
My wife and I have recently retired and will be traveling much more. Sadly, we will not be able to take Chet with us often, and we believe rehoming him into a more stable, active environment is far better for him than frequent separation.
Chet is very smart and highly trainable. He knows sit, stay, lay down, shake, roll over, and will calmly go lie down away from the table during meals. He stays off furniture unless invited and is house-trained and up to date on all vet care.
Chet will usually stop barking on command unless overly excited. He does bark and yip when new people enter the house, but this lasts only a few minutes before he settles. He has spent many days and nights with our young grandchildren, and they get along wonderfully.
