My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**Please scroll down and read the entire bio before emailing with questions. We will not respond to emails that ask questions already in the bio of the pet or generic questions of 'how old is it?', 'can I get more information?', 'oh it's so cute', etc. You must fill out an application in order to schedule an appointment.

Here is a link to our online application https://almosthomenm.rescueivey.com/apply/adopt

The application can also be found and downloaded from our main website https://almosthomenm.org/available-for-adoption

Once you have filled out an application please watch your emails to schedule an appointment. Please be aware we do not hold dogs until an appointment to meet them is scheduled.

Approximate DOB 11/4/2025 – about 4 lbs currently

Yahtzee (blond smooth coat female), Chessy (very petite medium scruffy blond female), Jenga (very scruffy blond female), Checkers (Black and tan smooth coat male), Bingo (brown scruffy male), Topple (smooth coat blond male), and Trouble (black and tan scruffy male) were surrendered to a local shelter during the holidays. Unfortunately, the shelter couldn't find a foster for them and they were too small to adopt out so they reached out to us for help. We agreed and they all made there way to rescue and are now old enough to find their happily ever afters. These babies are very outgoing, sweet, and playful. We are completely guessing on their breed possibility as they all look soooo different-- possibly Dachshund, Chihuahua, Poodle, and/or Norfolk Terrier-- they have shorter legs, longer bodies, and some are quite a bit fuzzier whereas some have more of a smooth coat (more than likely we have multiple fathers in this litter).. It will be interesting to have DNA tests done on them.

Using a dog door during the day and a litter box with wood shaving at night. Adopter would need to make continue with house training though.

These babies are very high energy and will need an active family/person to keep them busy. But oh my goodness they are all very playful and happy and love everyone they meet. She is too funny-- she enjoys toys and is constantly moving she is too darn cute with her little legs.

Spayed/neutered, microchipped, and current on all vaccinations -

Fee $275

We do welcome out-of-state adoptions. Adopters would need to be able to come out to meet/adopt the pet.

Send an email to request the application or you can download it from the main site www.almosthomenm.org and email it to adopt@almosthomenm.org

Dogs are seen by appointment only after an application has been submitted and approved. If you have other dogs it is recommended you bring them out to the meeting but not required. If you are not ready to adopt (vacation/travel planned and don't want to put your new pet in boarding, in the middle of a move, etc) please wait to schedule an appointment until you are ready.

Steps for adoption: Read bio, email to request application or download it from the main website, fill it out completely and email it back, once approved you will receive an email asking you when you would like to come out to meet the pet, schedule an appointment, directions will be emailed or text to you. Adoption fees are cash only.

If you would like to help with rescue by providing monetary support for vetting, snacks, and toys for the dogs in our program while they wait for their happily ever afters we would truly appreciate it.

Additional adoption info

If you are interested in adopting from us but have questions please feel free to e-mail us at adopt@almosthomenm.org

In order to start the application process you must send us an e-mail request for an application. We will e-mail it to you as soon as possible. Then just fill it out and send it back via e-mail. Once we receive it then we can schedule an appointment for you to come out and meet the animals.

We are not an open to the public facility with specific hours of operation. We are a foster home and therefore require an application submitted before an appointment can be made and directions given out.

If you would like to adopt from out of state then you must be willing to come out to meet and adopt the pet you are interested in.. We do not ship pets nor will we meet someone somewhere.. We want adopters to come out and spend at least an hour with this pet in their environment before adopting just to ensure there is a connection. We would hate for the adoption to not work and be so far away.

More about this rescue

We are a newly formed rescue in Peralta, NM. We are still very small and currently in process of getting our 501c3 tax exempt status. It is mainly just myself, my two daughters and a small group of volunteers. We only take in animals from shelters who are scheduled to be put down. All animals are housed in my home and on my property. We started this rescue due to the simple fact that there are so many wonderful dogs dying everyday at the shelters because there just isn't enough room.We do not discriminate against any breed. Every dog has the potential to be a great family pet, working dog, or therapy dog- just as every dog has the potential to become a "dangerous dog" due to the simple fact that they all (or most anyway) have teeth and can bite when provoked or trained to obey their owners commands.
We do it for the love of the animals and the need to find forever homes for the ones impounded due to no fault of their own.
