My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Winnie is one of 3 siblings that were rescued from the woods with their mother.  Winnie is an adorable, lovable puppy and will be available soon.  She is playful and full of spunk and energy and all white.  She is not house trained due to her age, but we offer FREE online obedience training via Dog Academy.  Winnie would make a great family pet and would be good with other dogs, cats, and kids too.  Mom is a 70lb Lab Mix and were told Dad is a Great Pyrenees…Winnie is going to be a BIG dog when she grows up!

More about this shelter

The Stone County Humane Society is a 501(C)(3) private organization, not a government entity that was formed in 1999. We rescue dogs and cats and are a no-kill shelter but we are not an open take in facility. We are currently operating from our new shelter building recently completed in August 2016 and a cat cottage. Our organization is managed by a volunteer board of 10 individuals and a full-time paid employee shelter manager that handles the day to day operations, and three part-time paid employees that feed and care for the animals and keep the facility clean. Most of our daily operations are funded by proceeds from a Second Chance Shop in town and donations from individuals. We also provide low cost spay/neuter clinics to the people of our county with help from a local vet.
