Maisie is a gentle, soulful companion who truly shines at home. Indoors, she is calm, affectionate, and happy spend most of the day napping, chewing a bone, or keeping a quiet watch over the household and alerting when something or someone new arrives. She’s been introduced to a few children and has been thoughtful and very sweet, keeping an eye on them like they are her little lambs to look after. She is crate-trained, house-trained, and settles beautifully with routine.

Maisie has been generally social with people! She has been comfortable and friendly with people on the street and guests who are introduced by her humans. Sudden or unexpected comings-and-goings into her home can make her nervous, and she will bark to alert her humans that a newcomer has arrived.

Maisie thrives in peaceful, predictable environments and does really well in a home outside of the business of the city. Heavy traffic, particularly trucks and trash compactors, terrify and overwhelm her, and because of this, she is not suited to dense urban neighborhoods. In calmer suburban or rural settings, she has shown herself to be much more relaxed and confident, especially with access to a fenced yard where she can decompress.

She can be selective with other dogs, particularly in close quarters while on leash, and does best with space and thoughtful introductions. However, she has generally done well with respectful dogs who are properly introduced, and is responsive to guidance. She is still getting familiar with being on a leash, and is prone to freezing or pulling away when she hears noises she’s afraid of.

Maisie is a deeply loyal, loving dog who wants nothing more than to belong, settle in, and look after her people (while napping most of the day)!
