Atlas is one of those once-in-a-lifetime kittens—the kind who truly loves people and just wants to be close to humans. We met him while visiting friends on St. Thomas, and from the moment we encountered him, his sweetness was impossible to miss.
Atlas was originally found at a grocery store by a tourist’s husband, who brought him back to their resort intending to fly him home. He spent the night in their hotel room, but the following day he was put back outside when the couple decided they didn’t want him anymore—largely because Atlas was friendly and curious, wanting to greet other guests. Unfortunately, this left him confused and disoriented in an unfamiliar area where he didn’t belong.
Resort employees noticed Atlas wandering around dazed and clearly lost. Knowing he needed help, we contacted Animal Care Center (ACC) on St. John. Although they typically don’t take cats from St. Thomas, they kindly agreed to help him. We took the first ferry back to St. John to bring Atlas safely to the shelter.
He is being fostered in a home with 2 cats, 1 dog and 3 young kids and he does amazing with everyone!
Atlas is incredibly affectionate, social, and people-oriented. He thrives on human interaction and would do best in a home where he can be part of everyday life—not left to fend for himself again. He deserves stability, love, and a family who will choose him forever.
If you’re interested in adopting Atlas, you’d be giving a truly special kitten the happy ending he so clearly deserves. 💙
