Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Oscar, a one-year-old Great Dane mix rescued from a high-kill shelter by Castoff Pet Rescue. Despite a very difficult start to life, Oscar has grown into a devoted, affectionate companion who bonds deeply with his people.
Oscar is house broken, crate trained, and a true velcro dog—he’s convinced he’s a lap dog and happiest right by your side. He is playful, loving, and eager to be part of his family’s daily life.
Because Oscar was severely abused, he can be protective of his people because he loves so deeply. With proper introductions and structure, he does well with dogs similar in size who are not overly protective by nature, and once comfortable, he truly loves to play.
Oscar is not good with cats and will need a cat-free home. He is currently in a foster home with cats and he only chases them when they run, but it is not ideal.
Oscar currently weighs about 60 pounds and is still filling out, so he may grow a bit more. He has already completed professional training, and his trainer will continue to support his future adopters, including offering free doggie daycare to help him maintain his skills and confidence.
Oscar would thrive in a home familiar with large breeds that values continued training and understands the loyalty of a dog who has learned to trust again. In return, he offers unwavering devotion, affection, and constant companionship.
If you’re looking for a loving, loyal shadow who will always be by your side, Oscar may be the perfect fit.
