Meet Checo
Checo is a mellow, thoughtful puppy with an old-soul vibe and a heart wired for loyalty. While he still has the occasional puppy zoomies, teething moments, and learning-curve accidents, his default setting is calm, observant, and quietly devoted to his people.
This smart boy already knows sit, lay down, place, and is working on stay. He definitely knows the word “treat” — if you need him to come, just say it and watch him appear. Checo is eager to learn and responds beautifully to positive reinforcement.
Checo is crate trained at night and sleeps through without a peep, especially if his crate is covered and includes a piece of worn clothing for comfort. He’s doing great with crate training overall and settles best when he can’t see you moving around — his little protector brain likes to stay “on duty.” During the day, he prefers lounging on the floor right at your feet rather than climbing on furniture.
He’s a natural guardian type who likes to keep eyes on his people and will happily follow you from room to room. He will bark when someone comes through the door or when he hears the garage, but once he sees it’s one of “his people,” he settles right down. On walks, he’s the opposite — no barking at all, even when other dogs or people pass by. He’s learning to sit politely while others walk past and is doing great with this training.
Checo loves walks and running and would make a wonderful jogging buddy. He’s curious and enjoys sniffing, but stays focused when asked. He doesn’t potty on walks — he prefers to wait until he’s safely back in his yard. Off-leash in enclosed areas, he explores confidently but always checks back in and stays close.
At home, Checo uses a bell to let you know when he wants to go outside — whether it’s for bathroom time or just to sit in the grass and watch the world go by. He loves fetch (and a little keep-away), chews happily on his bones while teething, and has already kicked a former rock-chewing habit thanks to consistent, gentle training.
He’s done well at doggy daycare — initially shy, but sweet and respectful, sticking close to caretakers until he felt comfortable. He’s great with kids, tolerant of handling (mouth, paws, belly), and gentle by nature.
One thing to note: Checo does get carsick on longer drives, but Benadryl works well for him and he takes medication easily. Short trips (15–20 minutes) are no problem at all.
Checo would thrive in a home that appreciates a loyal shadow, a quiet protector, and a puppy who wants to learn, bond, and belong. If you’re looking for a calm, loving companion with a big heart and steady presence, Checo might just be your perfect match.
