My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dovi is a loving, energetic young dog with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He’s still a puppy, which means he loves to play, explore, and be part of whatever you’re doing. He’s affectionate and enjoys sitting in your lap for attention, but he’s also perfectly content relaxing on his dog bed after some playtime.

Training & Behavior
   •    Crate trained
   •    House training in progress — he’s improved greatly and we’re working on teaching him to alert when he needs to go outside.
   •    Walks well on a harness but still developing his leash skills.
   •    Takes medicine easily with Cheese Whiz.
   •    Not food aggressive.
   •    Doesn’t bark excessively, but will alert when someone unfamiliar enters the home.
   •    Will stand on his hind legs and place his front paws on you for attention (this wasn’t trained out of him because he learned it living around larger dogs).

Social Personality
   •    Loves playing with other dogs.
   •    Not cat aggressive — he has been around three cats and mostly just sniffs them.
   •    Doesn’t mind the rain.
   •    Tolerates baths (even if they’re not his favorite).

Energy & Lifestyle

Dovi is a medium-energy dog who needs daily structure and a few minutes of focused exercise and play. He thrives with routine and clear expectations. He would do especially well in:
   •   A home where someone is around much of the day, or
   •   A home with another dog for companionship.

He did sneak out the door once but didn’t run off. He generally comes when called, though like many puppies, he may need a second reminder if something exciting has his attention.

Bottom line:
Dovi is a sweet, affectionate, playful dog with a strong personality who will thrive with structure, consistency, and love. With continued training and routine, he’s going to be an exceptional companion.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process begins with the adopter filling out our online adoption application. Vet references are checked first, as we have a stringent policy requiring all current and past pets to have proper vetting provided. After the vet reference is complete, personal references are contacted, and a home visit is scheduled with the adopter. Finally, the adopter is invited to meet all of the dogs that might be a fit for their home.

Fees range from $200 to $400.

All appointments are scheduled between the adopter and one of our adoption counselors, after the application process is completed.

More about this rescue

Canine Pet Rescue Corp (CPR)
is dedicated to reconditioning wayward dogs, inparticular German Shepherd Dogs, with the end goal of placing them in a stable environment, which harbors positive behaviors from the dog. Many times, a dog will remain in our program for months, until the right environment is found. CPR believes that quality over rides quantity. We advocate responsible pet ownership and believe that education is key to providing wayward canines a strong and successful life. We believe that canines can be therapists, teachers, motivators, and friends and the love of the DOG carries us to the goal of rescuing, rehabilitating, and training these misplaced canines. We are a small group, made up of various rescue individuals that assume the responsibility of caring for, providing medical care, rehabilitating, and training misplaced or owner surrendered canines. Many of the dogs within the organization have been mishandled or placed in the wrong environment and are in desperate need of mental stimulation, training, and a proper structure in their lives.
