Olive #3 | 12 weeks | Aussie Mix with a confident spark
Olive is a 12-week-old Aussie mix puppy with a bold little personality and a whole lot of curiosity. At around 14 pounds, this white-and-merle girl is playful, sweet, and surprisingly fearless for her age. We recently discovered that Olive is deaf, but it doesn’t slow her down one bit—she’s confident, engaged with her environment, and takes everything in stride. She loves toys, playing with her littermates and other dogs in her foster home, and happily switches between zooming around and curling up for snuggles once she’s worn herself out. If something startles her, she recovers quickly and keeps going.
Like any young puppy, Olive is just beginning her house-training journey and learning the basics of good manners. She is still getting comfortable with her crate and may whine or bark at first, especially when left alone, and she can’t hold her bladder for long yet. She has been left crated for short periods (about 3–4 hours) and is making steady progress. She’s also working on typical puppy behaviors like play biting and learning to chew on toys instead of hands, with food being a strong motivator. Because she is deaf, her future family should be open to using hand signals and positive reinforcement training, which she is expected to pick up quickly given her intelligence and focus.
Olive does very well with other dogs and has had positive interactions with large dogs. She would thrive in a home with another playful pup to help burn off her energy. She’s also doing well with cats—she wants to play and may chase a bit, but is learning boundaries. She hasn’t met children yet but is social and comfortable with both men and women. Olive will do best in an active, committed home that’s excited to provide training, structure, and the extra awareness that comes with raising a deaf puppy—along with all the joy and adventure of puppyhood.
If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives! A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.
The adoption fee for this pet is $450 (includes a $50 refundable puppy training deposit). Our adoption fee covers the following:
Spay/neuter
Microchip
DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.
Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.
Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption.
Please fill out an adoption application by clicking here. Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process!
Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls.
PLEASE NOTE: The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter. Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets. Here is some interesting info on breed identification: https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/
Our adoption process is:
1. Fill out our Adoption Application online. We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet.
2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting. Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!
