My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Maxine! She's our 8-month-old Terrier mix who's looking for a very special kind of hero. It was clear from the moment we met her that Maxine hasn't had the easiest start in life & that her past trauma has left her feeling small in a big world. She's made amazing progress since that first day & is finally ready to leave her history behind her & find a partner who can help her shine!
MAXINE'S IDEAL HOME:
▪️ Single-Pet Home: Maxine is terrified of other dogs. To feel truly safe & thrive, she needs to be the only pet as she acclimates to a home and works on her confidence.
▪️ Experienced Owner: She needs a best friend who understands canine language & knows how to build confidence through positive reinforcement without accidentally rewarding her fear-based behaviors.
Maxine is a gentle soul who will be your most devoted companion if given the chance. If you think she'd be a good fit for your home, please fill out an adoption application on our website: ruskanimals.com or reach out with any questions. ❤

More about this shelter

The Rusk County Animal Shelter in Ladysmith, WI, is a full service shelter, though we do not provide most veterinary services to the public. We shelter, and provide supportive care for stray and un-wanted domestic animals until they can be reunited with their owners, or adopted by new families. We accept surrendered animals when we have space available.
