Here's what the humans have to say about me:
A little bit about Kirby: - Unknown history with kids, all interactions should be supervised - Unknown history with cats and small animals, all introductions should be done slowly over time - Potential for other dog in home pending successful introduction
Just like the famous pink hero he’s named after, Kirby is a total sweetheart with an endless appetite - for love, attention, and fun! This 1-year-old Australian Shepherd mix was found as a stray with another dog and may do well with a canine companion in his new home. Kirby is *extremely* friendly and thrives on being close to his people; if cuddles were a superpower, he’d already be saving the world.
As a young, high-energy herding mix, Kirby will need plenty of daily exercise, mental enrichment, and opportunities to use his big brain. Long walks, games, training, and interactive toys will help keep him happy and balanced. His history with cats, children, and small animals is unknown, so any introductions should be slow and supervised.
If you’re looking for a loyal sidekick who’s ready to soak up affection and adventure, Kirby might just be your perfect match!

From our earliest beginning, Calgary Humane Society was more than a shelter. As Calgary’s first-established animal welfare organization, connecting the lives of animals and people while providing essential animal services to the community remains our central priority.
Today, Calgary Humane Society (CHS) shelters almost 5,000 homeless animals each year. In 1922 we set out to help as many animals as we can and we will continue to do so by fostering the values of respect, compassion, commitment, teamwork, integrity and innovation.
Our mission is to help as many animals as we can.
Our vision is using innovative strategies to lead, inspire, and educate in the humane treatment of companion animals, fostering an enlightened community that consistently demonstrates respect and compassion for all animals.
Our dream is a community where animals are valued, humanely treated, and live enriched lives.
Calgary Humane Society is committed to creating a better tomorrow through education and collaboration.
