My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Tonks!

Found in a milk crate at Great Kills Park, Tonks has come a long way from her uncertain start. This beautiful Californian rabbit, known for her striking white coat with chocolate points, has a curious, thoughtful nature and a touch of sass that keeps her interesting. She's often found nibbling hay or watching the world from the safety of her crate, occasionally thumping a reminder that she likes her space respected. Once she trusts you, though, she enjoys gentle pets and sweet treats like strawberries.

My Ideal Home

Tonks is looking for a calm home with an adopter who understands rabbits' unique needs. She will thrive with someone patient who can give her time to build confidence and explore safely. A quiet environment and daily enrichment like tunnels, toys, and hay to dig through will make her happiest.

Good with Kids?

Tonks may do best in a home without small children. She is gentle but can be startled easily, and she will appreciate a calm, predictable routine.

Good with Other Pets?

She was found after a dog encounter, so she would prefer a home without high prey drive pets. She may coexist peacefully with another rabbit after a careful introduction.

Leash Manners

Rabbits like Tonks are best exercised in a safe indoor play area or enclosed pen, not on a leash. She enjoys hopping around when she feels secure.

Overall Health

Healthy overall and recovering nicely from mild hair loss that is nearly resolved. She is eating, hopping, and thriving.

Behavior Determination

Experienced Adopters. Tonks will need an adopter who understands rabbit body language and is comfortable giving her space when she asks for it.

Other Fun Facts

Californian rabbits are known for being intelligent, clean, and affectionate once bonded with their person. They are not starter pets and require specific diets, social time, and safe housing. For the right adopter, Tonks will be a loyal, charming companion who brings a little hop of joy to every day.
