My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hiya, I`m Cruz, and I have important wiggly business to discuss. I’m a 4-year-old professional good boy with a very busy schedule that includes: wiggling my whole body when I meet you, playing, sniffing literally everything & solving treat puzzles like the genius I am. Seriously, if you hide snacks in a puzzle toy? I am ON THE CASE.

I already know “sit” (you’re welcome) and would love to learn more things — especially if you pay in treats. I think that’s a fair arrangement.

Now, a couple roommate notes from yours truly: I’d rather hang with grown-up humans (kids aren’t really my vibe), and I prefer to be your one-and-only dog. I like having my people all to myself — more pets that way, which just makes sense.

If you’re looking for a happy, wiggly, snack-motivated best friend who will greet you like you’ve been gone for 84 years every time you come home… I’m your guy. Let’s do life together.

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Harford County, Inc., located in Fallston, Maryland, is a non-profit, open-admission animal support organization dedicated to providing shelter and care to the homeless, abandoned and abused animals of Harford County. We provide a safe and healthy temporary shelter and seek loving, permanent homes to ensure the long-term welfare of the animals we serve. Through education and advocacy, we promote the humane treatment of companion animals and work toward reducing, and ultimately eliminating, pet overpopulation in the county through low-cost spay and neuter programs.

We have welcomed more than 300,000 animals since 1946 and provide service to the community in conjunction with animal control to safeguard public health and safety. We strive to promote the special bond between humans and their companion pets in securing forever homes for our animals.

The Humane Society of Harford County serves nearly 4,000 animals each year. The animals include dogs, cats, ponies, birds, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, bearded dragons, lizards, snakes, spiders, iguanas, turtles, ducks, turkeys, chickens, goats and pigs, to name a few. The majority of the animals we receive are cats (and kittens) and dogs (and puppies).
