Jude is only 4 months old, but his heart already carries a story that could bring you to tears—and then make you believe in miracles all over again.
He came from a severe hoarding situation, where love, care, and even food were scarce. When Jude was rescued, he was emaciated and dehydrated, weighing just 10 pounds. He was so weak he could barely walk. Life hadn’t been kind to him yet… but Jude never let that dim his gentle spirit.
Fast forward a short time, and wow—what a transformation! Jude is thriving. He’s gaining weight quickly, soaking up affection like it’s his full-time job, and discovering how wonderful the world can be when you’re finally safe and have a full belly. He loves curling up with his foster parents and 4-legged siblings, exploring the outdoors with curiosity and bravery, and (most importantly) learning that humans can be trusted.
Jude is a Heeler Mix (Blue Heeler dad, Mixed Breed mama – photos of parents are available) and somehow manages to be 100% pure sweetness. He’s incredibly smart and curious, already crate trained and doing fantastic with his basic training and leash work. Jude is very treat motivated—which makes training a breeze—and his all-time favorite reward? The whipped cream can (yes, really!).
When he’s not learning new things, Jude is all about the cuddles. He adores belly rubs, snuggles, being held, and one of his absolute favorite activities is curling up in one of his cozy beds, sweater on, taking the kind of peaceful nap that only comes when you finally feel secure. In just over a week, he’s started to play, show off his personality, and even get the zoomies!
This little guy has come so far in such a short time, and he’s just getting started. Jude is ready for a forever family who will continue his journey—one filled with love, patience, positive training, cuddles, and all the happy moments he’s always deserved.
Because of his age, breed mix, and enthusiasm for life, Jude will thrive with an active person who genuinely enjoys training and staying engaged with their dog. As a Heeler puppy who was born to herd and can be underfoot, a home with no small children or anyone with mobility challenges would be ideal. Jude is eager to learn, loves being involved in everything you’re doing, and will do best with adopters who can embrace his breed characteristics and energy, keeping him mentally and physically challenged and exercised.

More about this rescue
Almost Home Dog Rescue NC is a small foster-based rescue group in Western Carolina. After volunteering for years in a local county animal shelter, we could not turn away from the dogs that needed our help the most. We have created a home environment with comfy cabins for the pooches in our fun red barn and provide loads of fun, enrichment and training for the pups in our care. Our goal is to enrich the lives of both the dogs and their adopters alike! Want to learn more or interested in volunteering? Contact us! Interested in supporting our mission? We are incredibly grateful for donations of any amount via: https://paypal.me/almosthomedogrescue?locale.x=en_US
