My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Everyone welcome MAX!!

Maximillion (his given name, but we just call him MAX or MAXI) is a GORGEOUS 7-month-old Australian Shepherd. Yes, there is a lot of white. No, he is not deaf or special needs. Still just a pup, his current weight is 34 pounds, so anticipate him getting around 50–65 pounds.

Originally found in a ditch in Jersey with a littermate, he has lived with cats and small kids. Although he is currently being fostered with small dogs, he can be dog-selective depending on the other dog. If the other dog is controlling or overly corrective, it would not be an ideal fit.

He was an owner surrender when mom went back to work and the family realized they simply didn’t have the time, space, or even the knowledge to give a pup with this much energy what he truly needs.

Max needs a home with a yard, as he has a lot of energy, and apartment living would not be ideal. He also struggles with some separation anxiety due to always having someone home with him in his previous homes — and boy, does this kid have a strong bark (common with the breed, as they were bred to control, herd, and be heard).

With daily walks, training, rules, and boundaries, Max will SHINE so bright. This consistency will also help with his housetraining. Someone with Australian Shepherd experience would be most ideal. He is incredibly smart and just loves to love you — he has no idea about personal space.

MAX is up to date on his vaccinations and will be neutered and microchipped on 2/6/2026.

Do you have knowledge of the breed and the time and patience to help make MAX the bestest boy, and want to be considered as his furever family? Fill out an application, and let’s see if we can make a match. https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/PPFL-A-4047

Additional adoption info

In order to ensure a perfect match, we screen all adoption applicants. We require anyone wanting to adopt to complete an adoption application and we check personal and vet references. Final step before files goes to the Adoption Committee for review is to conduct a home visit with all members of the potential adoptive family. Fees for adoptions vary based on whether the dog's purebred, the age and health status of the dog. Contact us via email and we will send you our Adoption Application and tell you a little more about the dog you're interested in adopting!
