Iris is a beautiful, medium-sized dog with distinctive red, mahogany, and tan fur that stands out right away. She looks like a Shepherd, German and Chow Chow mix, though her exact breed makeup is unknown. At about five years old and 28 pounds, she’s a manageable size with a soft, thoughtful presence.
The shelter environment has been overwhelming for Iris, and she is still adjusting to all the new sights and sounds. She tolerates handling and does best with calm, patient people who are willing to move at her pace. A quieter environment will help her settle and begin to feel more comfortable.
Iris came to us from a small community that did not have the space or resources to care for her. She truly needs a foster or adoptive home where she can decompress, feel safe, and start her next chapter. If you have room in your home and heart for a dog who needs understanding and time, Iris is ready for that chance.
