My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Genevieve came into our care after being found wandering with another dog for several weeks before being brought in. Since arriving at the shelter, she has remained very shy and shut down. While she is gentle, the shelter environment is overwhelming for her and makes it difficult for her to show any real progress.

Genevieve’s behavior is rooted in fear and uncertainty. She is cautious of her surroundings and needs time to feel safe before she can begin to open up.

The challenges:

-Very shy and shut down in the shelter environment.
-Fearful of new people, handling, and unfamiliar situations.
-Struggles to cope with the noise, activity, and unpredictability of the shelter.
-Progress is slow and requires patience and consistency.

The good stuff:

-Gentle and non-reactive in her interactions.
-Shows curiosity when given space and time to observe.
-Benefits from calm, quiet handling and positive reinforcement.
-Has the potential to build confidence in a stable, low-stress environment.
-Likely to continue improving once removed from the shelter setting.

Who she needs:

Genevieve needs a quiet, patient home with someone who understands shy, fearful dogs and is willing to move at her pace. A predictable routine and low-stimulation environment will be key to helping her feel safe. With time, consistency, and gentle support, Genevieve has the potential to gain confidence and begin to trust in a home where she can finally relax.
