My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This pair of beautiful torties is looking for a forever home to call their own! Bonita and Ruthie (pink nose) are friendly young felines ready to share their love with a family. They can be shy at first, especially in a new environment, but once they settle in and start to get comfortable they are very affectionate and playful. They would be a great addition to a quieter home looking to add some new furry members. If you think your family is the right fit, apply today! DOB: 8/1/2024

More about this shelter

Venango County Humane Society was incorporated with the stated purpose of the corporation to:

"Provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals; to provide proper care for stray and injured animals; to enforce all laws designed for the protection of animals; to secure in lawful manner the arrest, conviction and punishment of persons violating such laws; and through the dissemination of literature and other educational means, to instruct and induce people to be kind, considerate and merciful in their treatment of animals."

We have closely followed this mission - of course we also take in pets that for whatever reason are no longer able to stay in their present home.

Our education outreach also extends to grade school children with programs to educate them on the proper care and interaction with pets to keep both the child and the pet safe.

A thrift shop located at 725 Liberty Street, Franklin, PA is mainly run by volunteers to raise money to help the shelter costs. Bingo is held every Tuesday & Saturday at 7 pm at the Lee Bessler Hall in Seneca, PA to raise money to support our spay/neuter program.

We are blessed with many volunteers who come in to help care for and socialize the animals, and to help at fund raising and public events.
