My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Nellie 🐾 and I’m so happy you stopped by to meet me. I’m a sweet, calm, and loving tabby girl with beautiful dark swirls in my fur and an even softer heart. I have a gentle, friendly nature and I truly enjoy being around my people.

One of my favorite things in the world is being brushed—add in some chin pets and scritches and I’m in heaven. I love affection and closeness, and you’ll often find me hopping up to sit on your lap. Sometimes, if I’m not quite ready to fully settle in, I’ll stand on your lap instead just to be near you. It’s my way of saying, “I like you, let’s hang out.” When I’m done with pets, I’ll kindly let you know—I’m very polite about my boundaries.

I also have a playful side and enjoy chasing wand toys and batting around little mouse toys. I’m curious about my surroundings and like to quietly observe, soaking everything in. I came from Chicago Animal Care and Control and I’m now ready for a cozy forever home where I can feel safe, loved, and part of the family.

If you’re looking for a gentle, affectionate companion who will happily share your space, your lap (sitting or standing!), and your heart, I would love to meet you. 💕

Our fees include a full medical exam by a veterinarian. This includes a Feline Leukemia and FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) test for cats, Rabies and Distemper Vaccines, deworming and Spay/Neuter. Dogs receive a Heartworm Check, Spay/Neuter, Rabies and Distemper Vaccines, Canine Flu Vaccine, deworming, and Kennel Cough preventative. Our modest adoption fees do not cover the procedures and vet work that we provide the animals. We fundraise to make up the difference. Any ongoing medical needs that C.A.R.E. is aware of are explained fully, (including daily medicine costs), to the potential adopter, and become the responsibility of the adopter.
