My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bugs is a handsome black greyhound with a bright, social personality. He greeted
everyone politely during his assessment and even sniffed little Cc the Iggy—he’s
definitely small-dog workable and will only improve with more positive
interactions.
This sweet boy loves people just as much as they’ll love him. He went straight up
to his handler for pats and play, happily soaking up all the attention. Treats? Absolutely—Bugs takes them with enthusiasm and a wagging tail. Friendly, curious, and eager to connect, Bugs is ready to bring joy, playfulness, and plenty of affection to his forever home. The finish line---sign the adoption agreement, pay the adoption fee and begin the "happily ever after".

Additional adoption info

In New South Wales, the greyhounds live with the owners, not in a crate at the track. With input of the dog's owner and evaluations done by professional trainers, we know a lot about the greyhound. The dogs are assessed, tested for prey drive (good with cats? good with small dogs?) and if the owner had children, the ages of the children are provided.

The dogs are vaccinated, desexed and evaluated by a vet at intake and again days before flight. The Aussie Mates in the States team completes the necessary import paperwork, coordinates flight information and make sure the dogs are cared for every step of the way of their journey.

More about this rescue

Since Mach 2024, we have welcomed over 160 greyhounds from the Aussie Mates in the States rehoming program located in Sydney, New South Wales.

Greyhound Welfare is first and foremost when racing in New South Wales. In fact, the organization funds a domestic and international rehoming program to assist with finding retired racers a forever home.

Combine with our many years of experience with placing US greyhound and the care and commitment of the Aussie's Mates in the State team, you'll adopt a wonderful greyhound with ongoing support.
