Meet Brioche 🥐🐾
At just 9 pounds, this 3-year-old long-haired Chihuahua is a delicate little soul with a surprisingly strong heart. Brioche is incredibly shy and introverted — the quiet observer in the room who takes her time deciding who is worthy of her trust.
But once you’re in? You’re in.
She bonds deeply to her favorite female person and will be a loyal, devoted companion for someone patient enough to let her bloom at her own pace. She isn’t a fan of men and prefers to keep a safe distance, and she’s looking for an adult-only home where life is calm, predictable, and gentle.
Brioche would be perfectly content as your one-and-only, but she could also live with a calm, confident dog who can quietly model “how to dog” — as long as they respect her space and don’t pester her to play. She does fine with other dogs, mostly keeps to herself, and will likely ignore a cat.
Because she startles easily and may bolt if frightened, Brioche will need a very secure environment — a solid fenced yard (no gaps, and she can clear a 38" barrier or baby gate!) or leash-only walks. A quiet home outside of busy neighborhoods or city life would help her feel safe and settled.
Brioche isn’t for everyone — and that’s okay. She’s for someone special. Someone patient. Someone gentle. Someone who understands that the shyest hearts often love the deepest.
If you’re ready to give this sensitive little girl the secure, peaceful life she deserves, please request an adoption application by emailing smidgetrescue@hotmail.com 💌
Adoption contract and fee applies. All adoptable dogs can be met at adoption events hosted every weekend. For a list of scheduled events go to: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/events . Smidget Rescue is not a shelter, and dogs cannot be seen at the Rescue location. All dogs are fostered throughout the Puget Sound area and are brought to the events where they can be met by prospective adopters. Additional pictures of adoptable dogs can be seen at: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/photos_stream?tab=photos_albums. All adoptable dogs are spayed or neutered at 6 months of age or older. Puppies are adopted with a refundable spay/neuter deposit (in addition to the adoption fee) and adopters are required to get their puppy to our vet for their pre-scheduled spay-neuter appointments. APPLICATIONS CAN BE OBTAINED BY EMAIL ONLY. Adoption process includes application, meet & greet, home visit and reference check. Email Jamie at smidgetrescue@hotmail.com or click on the CONTACT link on this page. PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS BEFORE SENDING. 8632781We get a fair number of incorrect emails and Jamie is not able to contact potential adopters. Notice: We do not ship dogs out of state. You must live within a three-hour radius of Seattle, WA, (such as Portland, Vancouver B.C., etc.), so we can arrange for a home visit. If your home seems like a great fit for the dog you would like to adopt, you must then drive to meet the dog at one of our weekend events or at the fosters home.

More about this rescue
Smidget Rescue was founded in December of 2010. We started off saving small dogs off the euthanasia list in California shelters. We have evolved over the years and now concentrate
on local Washington dogs; from local shelters, direct owner surrenders and strays. We have have found homes for over 3000 dogs since inception.
Our mission is to help rehome homeless and unwanted dogs in Washington State by providing the resources to enable proper matchmaking for the dog and the new family. We do not do same day adoptions because our process requires an application process with reference/background and physical home checks. This process ensures we meet the goals of our mission.
