Age: 8 months, 2 weeks

Weight: 45.4 lbs

Valiant was found roaming near Lake Berryessa for several weeks after being dumped with his siblings. He is a very sweet, docile boy who is still scared of the world and needs a patient, loving home that can offer him safety and reassurance as he builds confidence. Valiant truly thrives around other dogs, and his personality comes alive during playtime. He would likely do best in a home with another dog to help guide him and show him that people and the world can be safe. With time, patience, and a calm environment, Valiant has so much potential to blossom into a loving companion.

More about this rescue

We are a group of people dedicated to rescuing dogs from crisis situations, some of which include euthanasia by animal shelters, neglect and other forms of abuse, or "free to a good home" ads, which result in dogs being bounced from one home to another, or being acquired by animal brokers ("bunchers") and sold to research laboratories where they are used for testing then discarded ("cruelty industries").

NBCR&P works primarily with 5 herding breeds, and herding breed mixes. On occasion, NBCR&P also rescues and places other breeds. We foster our dogs in a home environment, rather than a kennel, if at all possible. We take pride in our promise that at any time and for any reason in the dog's life, if the need arises, he or she has a safe place with us ("return to rescue" policy).
