A Gentle Giant’s Long Road Home:
Meet Tommy I don’t know where Tommy’s story began, or who it was that left him behind and forgot him. For over a year, this 15-pound gentle giant lived as a ghost in the shadows of my neighborhood. At first, he stayed far away, only acknowledging the food I left with a quiet, thankful chirrup—a tiny sound for such a big boy. I fixed him, vaccinated him, and released him, truly believing he was a creature of the wild. But as the months passed, I watched him. Every night, he would appear to eat, and every morning, before the sun could touch the ground, he would disappear back into the cold.
Lately, something shifted. The light in Tommy's eyes had been replaced by a heavy, hollow sadness. He began to approach me, his body matted and tired, but his heart was torn between a desperate need for help and a deep-seated fear. His eyes seemed to ask: "Is that hand going to hurt me, or will it finally be the one to save me?" One evening, the walls finally came down. Tommy walked right up to me and allowed me to stroke his weary body. When I went inside that night, he didn't disappear into the shadows. He stayed. He spent the entire night on my doormat, staring at the door, waiting for a life he had almost forgotten existed. For three nights, he braved the darkness and the cold, sitting patiently, his eyes filled with a quiet, flickering hope. On the third night, I opened the door, and Tommy walked out of the shadows for the last time. Inside, Tommy has transformed. This "distinguished gentleman" doesn't just want to be near you—he clings to you. He gives "whole-body hugs," wrapping himself around his human as if he’s afraid that if he lets go, he might wake up back on that cold doormat.
Tommy’s Profile: Age: Approx. 3 years old. Weight: 15 lbs of pure love. Health: Fully vetted at Harmony Animal Hospital. He is FIV positive, but his vets give him a wonderful prognosis for a long, healthy life. He just needs a quality diet and an indoor-only lifestyle.
Personality: Laid-back, gentle, and a master of the "lap snuggle." He loves being brushed and cherished. Because my home is already full, I am searching for a very special soul for Tommy. He needs a calm, "indoor-only" sanctuary with someone experienced who understands that trauma takes time to heal. Because he craves peace, he would do best in a home without children.
Adoption Details: To ensure he starts his new life on the right foot, I am asking for $50 adoption fee that will be paid directly to his account at Harmony Animal Hospital to cover his future wellness checks. Tommy survived the outdoors, but he was made for the indoors. He is done with the shadows; he is just waiting for his forever person to walk through the door.
