My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

POPPY is a beautiful, approx 4yr female, crate trained, house trained, fully vetted (vaccinated & spayed) and HW negative. SHE is about 65lbs, possibly a Weimaraner mix of lab, hound, terrier and part comedian….. with little/no shedding, and a very sensitive tummy and spirit.

POPPY is extremely loyal, highly intelligent, and thrives best with a routine which helps her feel safe and secure. Human companionship brings her great comfort, peace and joy. Consistency and routine is very important so she feels safe, secure, and it helps her understand & know “what to do that is right and pleasing“ for her caretaker. She has great eye contact and a super sensitive spirit, learns quickly as she is definitely treat motivated. She does well with adults when introductions are calm and low key; she has had very little interaction with children.

POPPY can be calm, relaxed while you watch TV or read or work. SHE LOVES her toys - has multiple ones she plays with daily, and thoroughly enjoys chewing on her benebones. Outside she has strong prey drive, loves to protect the yard from squirrels or other critters that might invade “her” space; sometimes during outside playtime she will explode with a few zoomies. SHE can be self entertaining w/her toys – and prefers not to share with other dogs. Poppy is a “highly sensitive dog” ....meaning she is very alert/aware of her companions and environment, and changes to either may cause a short span of anxiety or stress unless reassured "all is good".

Poppy is always ready for a car ride, and will walk well on leash with her harness. Poppy is in foster home located in Miami County, OH. We recommend a fenced yard for our adoptable friends. Adoption application is online; visit the ADOPTME page at Dream4pets.org

More about this rescue

DREAM is a network of VOLUNTEERS and foster based with efforts focused on Rescue, Rehabilitation and RE-homing of companion dogs that are neglected, abandoned and sometimes living in county shelters. Our goals: offer resources to REDUCE the overpopulation of cats and dogs - thus reducing euthanizing, PROVIDE educational resources to assist with "responsible pet ownership" and RAISE FUNDS to help with necessary vetting for the pets we rescue, rehabilitate and re-home.

Our adoptions are never finalized until we are 100% assured there is a perfect match for both the applicant and the dog being adopted. Sending us the adoption application is the first step. You will find the application online (on the Adopt Me page at Dream4pets.org). A home visit and reference checks are also made prior to any adoption. Our adoption process typically begins 3 days after the application has been received..
