My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Just like his name, Shamwow is small but mighty! This 4-month-old neutered male Mini Aussie is full of spunk, sass, and puppy enthusiasm. He’s curious, energetic, and always ready to investigate the world around him, even though sometimes it can be scary for him!

Shamwow is still learning the rules of being a good boy. He’s a typical teething puppy who is working on manners, impulse control, and appropriate chew choices. Because he’s still young, he’ll thrive with structure, consistency, and positive reinforcement training.

When it comes to other dogs, Shamwow has a bit of a “Napoleon complex” — he doesn’t always realize he’s the little guy in the room. He can be loud and rude, which is coming from a sense of uneasiness and fear (we don`t think he met many dogs before coming to the shelter). With that said, he can live with other patient, friendly dogs who can teach him how to be brave and he`ll thrive in a home that’s committed to slow, proper introductions and ongoing guidance.

This smart little herder will do best with an adopter who understands puppies take time, training, and patience ... and that herding dogs need double the time, double the training and quadruple the patience plus a job to be happy pups! They`re just too smart for their own good!

If you’re looking for a lively companion with personality for days and are ready to put in the work that comes with puppyhood, Shamwow might just be your perfect match! If you`re into dog sports or need a working dog-this is your guy. If you`re just looking for a cute easy pup- we`ll introduce you to some other options. =)

Additional adoption info

You must be 18 years or older to adopt an animal. A valid ID is required.

If you own your own home, please provide proof of home-ownership; a mortgage receipt, tax bill, water bill or deed will suffice.

If you rent, please bring your lease which states the type of pet you are interested in and that it is accepted or the name and phone of your landlord so we can verify the pet is allowed. Inquire with your landlord about any size or breed restrictions.

Please check with your home owner’s insurance company or landlord to find out if they have any restrictions on the breed(s) of dog they cover. Common breeds that may not be covered include: Pit Bulls, Doberman Pinschers, Rottweilers and German Shepherds.

For the health and safety of the pet you are interested in adopting and your existing pets, we ask that you provide proof of current vaccinations and spay/neuter status for pets in your home. (We may be able to call your veterinarian if you do not have a copy available.)

A new pet is a family decision and we ask that all members of your family meet the pet and agree on the suitability for your household.

If you already have a dog(s) in your home please bring the dog(s) with you to meet the dog you are considering to see if they are compatible.

Complete an adoption application and talk with a staff member for more information about the animal you are considering.
