My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I can be met by appointment at my foster home in Stormville, NY

🐾 Meet Buster: Your New Best Friend!
Hi there! My name is Buster, and I’m a 36-lb bundle of love and loyalty. For the last two and a half years, I’ve been the center of my Dad’s world. We’ve been inseparable since I was just 10 weeks old, but life is taking us on different paths now.
My Dad had to move into assisted living, and while it was a very sad goodbye, he made sure to send me off with all my favorite toys so I’d feel safe. I’m a little confused right now, but I have so much love left to give. I’m just looking for a new human to share my life with!

Why I’m the Perfect Companion:
• Expert Cuddler: At 36 lbs, I am the perfect "portable" size—not too big, not too small. I’m easy to take on adventures and even easier to fit on your lap.
• Cat-Friendly: My grandparents had a whole house full of cats, so I know exactly how to be a respectful brother to feline friends.
• Gentle & Smart: I already know how to "Sit," and I pride myself on my gentle manners.
• A True Shadow: My favorite place in the world is "wherever the humans are." Whether you’re folding laundry or watching a movie, I’ll be right there by your side.

My Wishlist:
I’m looking for a home where I won’t be left behind and where my "gentle soul" is appreciated. I might be a little sad at first because I miss my Dad, but with a few treats and some belly rubs, I know I can be the happy boy I was born to be.
Will you be the one to scoop me up and give me a new beginning?

How to meet dogs listed with "NY" :
If the dog is listed with an 'Avail date" and a (location) - the dog cannot be met until the event and it is a first come, first served adoption event with the dogs being met in the order the potential adopters sign in.

If the dog is listed as being in a (foster home ie: Foster in Carmel) please email us at info@pawsafe.org and we will set up an appointment for you to meet the dog(s) that interest you at their foster home(s).

**** We are sorry, but we cannot adopt to Massachusetts residents. This is a Ma Dept. of Agriculture policy, not ours.

Additional adoption info

Our volunteers have made a commitment to ensure that the animals we place will be in their new home for life.

Once an application is submitted, a volunteer will work with you to meet the puppies that interest you.

Please plan on meeting the animal you are interested in adopting. Although the pictures and descriptions may show the "perfect" pet for you - nothing replaces an actual meeting!! You can not place an animal on hold. This is unfair to both the animal and other potential adopters.

ADOPTION FEES:
Please read the Q&A's on our website for adoption fee information and what is included.

More about this shelter

We work very closely with rescues in southern states to find new homes for dogs and puppies who deserve a family despite their state of origin.

Most of the puppies in our care come from over-crowded shelters in states with extreme over population and high kill rates. Our main goal is to place orphaned and unwanted animals into loving permanent homes.
