My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Benny! I’m available for adoption! Please read the questions and answers below to learn more about me. If I sound like a good fit, come out to Greenhill Humane Society to meet me!

Do you like other cats? I have no known history with other cats. I might do okay with another cat after a slow introduction period.

What do you think about living with a dog? I previously lived with a dog and played with him, but that was before I had surgery on my leg. I might do well with another cat savvy dog after a slow introduction period.

How do you feel about kids? I have no known history with kids. I can play a little rough sometimes so I need to go to a home with adults only.

What was your previous home like? I lived with a dog and had access indoors and outdoors.

What’s your ideal home like? I need an indoor home now that I only have 3 legs. I also need to go to a home with younger adults who have time and energy to play with me and help me learn how to play with people appropriately.

Is there anything else we should know about you? I recently had one of my hind legs amputated after it got injured so I am healing from that and learning how to navigate the world missing one of my back legs! I used to get to go outside in my last home, but now that I only have 3 legs I can`t explore outside safely anymore and this will be a transition for me. I will need lots of play time and activities to kept me entertained as an indoor cat.

More about this shelter

Greenhill Humane Society has been caring for animals in Lane County since 1944. We operate the only animal shelter within the Eugene/Springfield area. Our programs include animal adoptions; reuniting lost animals with their families; disaster response; crisis care boarding in situations of domestic violence, medical emergencies, and other crisis situations; spay/neuter for free roaming, un-owned community cats; a pet pantry; on-site volunteer opportunities; foster care and humane education.

Last year, we helped reunite or find new loving homes for 2,826 animals. In addition, we provided 469 cat spay/neuter surgeries to assist cat caregivers in reducing feral cat over-population.

Greenhill is a private non-profit and relies on donations for a majority of its budget. The generosity of our local community enables us to provide a high level of care to lost, abandoned, and neglected animals while at the same time helping pet owners in need.
