Zuzu now named Gracie is being fostered in St Louis MO
Meet Gracie, a 20-pound red tri Australian Shepherd female puppy with a heart as big as her energy level. This little firecracker is equal parts playful, cuddly, and mischievous in the most endearing way. She is about 4 months old, and will likely be around 40-50 lbs full grown.
Gracie is a joyful, spirited girl who lives for fun. Bones? Obsessed. Playing with other dogs? Absolutely. Fetch with tennis balls? She’ll keep the game going as long as you’re willing. Splashing in water? Pure bliss. And when the day winds down, she’s more than happy to curl up for a snuggle.
Her personality is high-energy, curious, and always ready for adventure. She is affectionate and cuddly once she settles in and her exercise needs have bet met. Occasionally shy when meeting men, but warms up quickly with gentle reassurance and of course yummy cookies. She is a classic Aussie that includes a mix of smarts, enthusiasm, and a little bit of chaos.
In her previous home, Gracie lived in a small third floor apartment and had very limited exposure to the outdoors. She was trained to go to the bathroom inside on puppy pads and is currently being worked on with her foster to break this habit and go outside, where it is appropriate. She is getting better each day. being on a consistent schedule. This will need to comtinue in her forever home.
Gracie is crate trained and great on a leash. She loves long walks and especially when those walks involve getting love from neighbors. She additionally loves kids, her favorite thing to do in the morning is walk by the school bus stop and get love from her favorite neighborhood kiddos.
Gracie needs a family who understands the mental and physical requirements of a typical herding puppy. She’s still learning the ropes of indoor life and has a talent for getting into things—i.e. shoes, trash, anything interesting — so patience, consistency, positive reinforcemnt training and good leadership are key. She requires a home that can provide structure, exercise, and mental stimulation will help her thrive.
Gracie is looking for a family who will embrace her enthusiasm, guide her as she learns, and give her the love and activity she craves. With the right people, Gracie will blossom into the loyal, affectionate companion she’s meant to be. If you’re ready for a lively, loving Aussie who will keep you laughing and keep you moving, Gracie might just be your perfect match.
Zuzu is microchipped, up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations and receiving monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworms. She does require a committed adopter who is willing to devote 1 - 2 hours of mental and physical stimulation per day. Our rescue requires proof of heartworm preventatives for all current and previos pets.
NOTE: All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in. Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application. We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family. MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives. www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org
