Meet Chopper! Chopper is a very sweet 6-year-old Labrador Retriever who was surrendered because the owner realized he needs someone who has more time to spend with him. He is just over 100 pounds (that being said, he could stand to shed a couple pounds, so daily walks will be beneficial!).
We're told he is great with other dogs, and kids. We are unsure about cats. Although he's still really confused here, we know he'll settle into a new home setting with someone who understands his recovery period. He may just need extra patience because he's grieving his previous owner and everything he once knew.
Chopper is a friendly and affectionate guy. He is fully potty trained and keeps his kennel here at the shelter clean, and although he seems very displaced still, it didn't take him long to nudge our hands for more tummy scratches when we hung out in his kennel with him. We think he quickly found comfort in just snuggling up next to a human. Chopper was used to daily hikes through the woods and would enjoy a daily walk.
This sweet boy just wants to be close to humans, and we know we can find him someone who will be as loyal to him as he is to them.
We are doing all meet n' greets BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after an adoption application has been approved.
Please fill out the following PDF Application and email to monroecountydogshelter@gmail.com
