Meet Leroy, a 1-year-old Chihuahua with a big personality packed into a small frame. He’s alert, curious, and full of spunky charm that keeps life entertaining. When he first came to the Humane Society of South Mississippi as a stray he was scared and unsure of his surroundings. After going slow with him and socializing with people he has come out of his shell a bit.

Leroy enjoys being close to his people and loves soaking up attention once he feels comfortable. He has that classic Chihuahua confidence and would thrive in a home that understands that he likes to be near by but does not want a whole lot of affection. He would do best in a home with no small children and with older adults.

If you’re looking for a compact companion with character, loyalty, and lots of love to give, Leroy is ready to make himself right at home.
Leroy's $350 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccines, microchip AND transport fee to a location near you. We currently have transportation to CT, MD, NJ, NY, PA, VA, GA, and TN. Please email transport@hssm.org for more information on transports!

A staff member will reach out if your application is approved to discuss the adoption process. No fenced in yard required, and YES - we adopt to families with children! The adoption will not be final until the adoption contract is discussed and signed. Transports are arranged for specific dates, typically within 1-3 weeks of approving your application.
