SIR ARTHUR
5-year-old, 19lb, Ruby Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
Sir Arthur is a retired commercial breeder who is just beginning to discover the comforts of indoor life-kind humans, cozy couches, and respectful canine companions. He needs a few days to adjust to new surroundings, but once he feels safe, he becomes affectionate and eager for attention .
Toys and dog beds are still new to him, but he loves curling up next to his people on the couch. Sir Arthur is very food motivated , which makes him a great candidate for gentle, positive-reinforcement training as he continues to learn life skills.
At night, he sleeps through the night in a crate after a minute or two of mild protest , though we suspect he’d happily take on the role of full-time bed warmer in his forever home.
Sir Arthur is looking for a patient, understanding home that will give him time to adjust and continue learning. He’s making great progress with potty training but isn’t quite 100% yet, so a secure fenced yard or potty run is required. Leash walking and confidence with doorways will come with time (it’s cold in Fort Wayne right now! ).
He gets along well with his foster siblings (a Cavalier and a pittie ) and would enjoy gentle playmates or another dog his size. He hasn’t been tested with cats but would likely do fine. Respectful teenagers would be welcome in his home too.
Health-wise, Sir Arthur is doing great :UTD on vaccines ✅, heartworm negative ❤️, on prevention, microchipped 📍, neutered ✂️, recently had a dental (only lost one small tooth 😁), and best of all—no heart murmur! 🎉
If you’re looking for a gentle, dignified Cavalier who will blossom with patience, love, and a few well-timed cookies , Sir Arthur may be your perfect match! Apply at https://www.heartlandcavalierconnection.org/adoptionapplication
