My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Lightning

Lightning is a striking young gray boy
with a big personality and an even bigger need for companionship. Found living as a stray in South Minneapolis, he quickly made it clear that he wasn’t meant to be alone. Lightning thrives around people and wants to be part of everything you do—following you from room to room, rubbing against your legs, and hopping into your lap the moment you sit down.

He’s quick to purr and adores lap time, often paired with one of his favorite pastimes: giving himself an impressively thorough bath. Lightning has a knack for twisting into the funniest positions and appreciates a supportive human nearby while he cleans.

Lightning is chatty and opinionated, especially around mealtime. He’s very food-motivated and loves wand toys, squeeze-up treats, and catnip. Playtime is a favorite way for him to burn energy and bond.

When overstimulated, Lightning may gently mouth hands after warning licks, so he’d do best in a home without small children. He enjoys other cats but would be happiest as an only pet with plenty of human attention. If you’re looking for an affectionate, lap-loving companion, Lightning is ready to light up your life.

Lightning is fixed, microchipped, FIV/FeLv negative, and up to date on vaccinations for his age.

More about this rescue

Twin Cities Pet Rescue (TCPR) is a small, 501c3 nonprofit, companion animal rescue organization. TCPR does not have a facility and is 100% foster-based. TCPR rescues dogs, cats and small animals of all breeds; rescuing them from city impounds, puppy mills, and other situations of abuse and neglect. Once rescued, all animals receive veterinary care ranging from spay/neuter, vaccines, microchips, and basic testing to specialty eye surgeries, pet dermatology care, and various other specialty treatments. Once an animal is rescued by TCPR, it remains in a foster home until adopted, no matter how long that might take.
TCPR often rescues animals that are considered “less adoptable” by other rescue organizations, as they are often the ones overlooked and truly left behind; and in need of the most help. These animals might be overlooked due to their age, health status, special needs or breed. TCPR works to help as many animals in need find their furever families as we can, especially helping those animals that need help most.
