My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Frappy lifts our spirits just by looking at her. She’s so silly looking with her short legs and long body. Looks like a cross between a dachshund and a corgi! But she has one of those dog mouths that looks like she is smiling all the time. She is also one of those happy-go-lucky souls who just takes life as it comes and enjoys it. We have been fostering her for about three weeks and it has been a total joy. She loves to snuggle, but is very respectful if you are not in the mood. Mostly she loves to just hang around wherever we areShe gets along great with the other dogs and is a super gentle soul with everyone. She doesn’t jump all over us or overwhelm us – she’s just happy to be with us and receive a few kisses. She will make some very lucky person or family a wonderful companion!

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

I am a small organization which only has up to five dogs at any one time. I personally deal with all applications.

2.

Meet the Pet

Applicant must come to foster's home to meet the dog; an interview takes place at that time.

3.

Home Check

References are checked prior to home check.

Additional adoption info

All adopters (and fosters) must sign a contract promising such things as regular vet care; animal will not live outside; etc. Most importantly, they must return the dog to us if they no longer can keep it.

Go meet their pets

Since we are so very small, potential adopters will come to the fosters' homes to meet the dogs.

More about this rescue

For the past ten years, I have placed dogs in the DC area. Most of them have come from the Director of the Wetzel County Animal Shelter in West Virginia. I have placed about 80 dogs in that time - usually just one dog at a time. I have recently begun working with a shelter in Mexico where I have a house (Sociedad Protectora de Animales) in San Miguel de Allende. We have had a large fundraiser and I will be bringing up five dogs at a time to find homes for over the next few years. SPA has a wonderful website which you can check out and we have a Facebook page about our project. We are bringing our first five up on April 5th 2019.

Please note: Almost all my dogs come fully spayed/neutered/vaccinated and healthy. I rarely have to use a vet for them, but have occasionally. The vet listed is primarily the one I use for my personal dogs. The Wetzel County Shelter would be a good reference for me.
