My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Beckham!
Beckham is a lean, tall, athletic pup who’s ready to find his perfect home. At 11 months old, this Border Collie/McNab mix still has some growing left to do (currently 46.4 lbs). He has a lovely smooth coat, and a clean bill of health (neutered, UTD on vaccinations and parasite control, plus microchipped).

Beckham is quickly learning to trust people and with deliberate/dog knowledgeable socialization the sky is the limit for what he can accomplish. He is less and less nervous about new/quick/loud things as he gets more exposure. He’s done well with a confident housecat and truly loves other dogs of all kinds. His foster will try to find an opportunity to introduce him to some little people soon to see how he feels about kids.

Beckham would thrive best in a home with other confident/balanced dogs as a model for correct behavior. Stock animals haven’t been very interesting so far, but as he gains confidence, he shows some excitement about horses across the fence. He will need continued guidance on appropriate behavior as he learns about the big-wide world and what his roll will be for his new family. Activity will be an important part of his maturing because of his busy mind and exercise needs.

Beckham is excellent on a leash and is newly learning about taking walks around town distractions. He is a quiet traveler in the crate and starting to like car rides. So far there have been no bathroom accidents in the house, but he is carefully monitored indoors and spends some of the day outside. He is currently being crated at night in the house. This guy is learning about toys and focusing on appropriate items to chew on… he will dig in loose footing but hasn’t offered to make any holes in established lawn.

Beckham’s previous foster said that he was fine to bathe, and he has done well to trim his nails. This quiet pup hasn’t had much exposure to obedience type cues but is absolutely treat driven and would quickly learn commands for higher value snacks. He is very gentle, taking food from your hand. He has fair recall and is continuing to improve. His original home was rural, so city life would be a learning curve, but possible with enough activity.
