✨ Fred is officially ready for his forever home. ✨ This incredibly sweet boy came to us from the Dallas shelter after being found beside his deceased owner, scared and at risk of euthanasia. Despite everything he’s been through, Fred has shown nothing but quiet resilience and love. When Fred first arrived, we were concerned about possible diabetes, eye ulcers, and severe anemia. In just a few short weeks, he’s already made amazing progress — his blood glucose is back to normal, his eye is improving, and while he is still anemic, he’s under close veterinary care with a follow-up scheduled to rule out any underlying masses. Fred is blind — but don’t let that fool you. His hearing is incredible, and his heart is even bigger. He quickly learns voices, footsteps, and routines. His favorite place in the world? Curled up in your arms or sleeping peacefully right beside you. He’s calm, affectionate, and so grateful for every bit of comfort he’s given. Fred doesn’t need perfect — he just needs gentle. A quiet home, a warm lap, and someone who will love him for the precious boy he is. 💛 If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will treasure every moment with you, Fred is waiting. To have your home considered for adoption, read about our adoption process or fees, and find out about interstate transport (dogs only), please visit our website.

❤ Long Way Home makes no guarantees on breed--most animals we receive from shelters are mixed breeds. As long as they need rescue, that's what is most important to us.
