Meet Reagi – Ready for His Fresh Start
Reagi is a 3-year-old Labrador Retriever mix who’s ready to begin a new chapter. After being confiscated due to an irresponsible former owner, this sweet boy is finally getting the chance at the life he deserves.
The kennel environment is stressful for Reagi, but once he’s outside with a person, his true personality shines. He relaxes, wags his tail, and shows just how gentle and affectionate he is. He’s incredibly friendly with people and has become a favorite among staff and volunteers.
Reagi has clearly had training and is eager to please — so eager that he’ll happily run through all the commands he knows just in case a treat is coming. He walks beautifully on leash, takes treats gently, and loves a good booty scratch. Outside the kennel, he’s calm and nonreactive around other dogs and even cats.
During a recent doggie day out, Reagi proved he’s ready for home life. He rode well in the car, stayed calm passing other dogs, appeared to be housebroken, and settled easily indoors. He enjoys toys, loves tug-of-war, and is excited to learn and please his people.
Reagi is looking for a fresh start, a soft place to land, and someone who’ll show him that his best days are ahead.

All shelter locations are conducting animal viewing and adoptions on a first come, first serve basis. We are not able to move a pet from one location to another for your viewing.
The adoption fee is waived for all available pets in care and in foster homes. Standard adoption practices will still be in place, including background checks.

The City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department (AWD) expanded the shelter days of service to seven days a week with operational hours of 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and pet viewing from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m for both the east and west side shelter locations.
