Rizzo is a very sweet, affectionate girl who loves dog park adventures, running in the yard, and licking the last bit of peanut butter from the jar.
We adopted Rizzo three years ago through a rescue, where we were told she had experienced significant abuse earlier in life. Because of that, she needed time to learn to trust. Today, she is playful, loving, and completely comfortable with me and my three children.
Unfortunately, despite time, patience, and kindness, Rizzo remains very fearful of my husband. We believe he may remind her of someone from her past. When he comes home, she still shakes, even though he is always gentle and respectful toward her.
Rizzo is not aggressive at all—she simply needs a home where she can feel relaxed and safe at all times. We feel she would thrive in a home with women, children, or teens, or with a calm male she does not feel threatened by. Our goal is to find her a loving environment where she can fully be herself.
