Balia is a real treasure, both in personality and in beauty. She is very independent, brave, and self-assured; balancing independence with warmth and loyalty. Balia is very energetic and playful, loves running and jumping up on her cat tree and playing with her toys.
She is very affectionate, loves to be petted, be close to her humans and cuddling. Balia does not like being held. Balia is very friendly; always first to greet me at the door when I come in. She is quite the character, enjoys being involved in her surroundings and likes to know what’s going on around her. After her stressful past, Balia prefers to be adopted by an experienced cat owner and should be the only pet in the home. Poor girl was abandoned in a cardboard box during a dangerous heatwave in Quebec last year.
Balia likes to jump up on things – back of sofa, top of cat tree to look down, and she likes looking out windows at the birds and squirrels. Her favourite place is the top level of the cat tree where the world is at her feet and she can survey her kingdom.
While in foster care, Balia was treated for a previously untreated ear infection that spread and affected her left inner and outer ear. There is still a mass (cauliflower ear) on her outer ear that is shrinking, however her outer ear is also shrinking along with the mass making the left ear appear bent down. This has not affected her hearing or activity in any way and she is able to move the left ear the same as the right side ear. Regular cleaning in both ears with a few drops of vet approved ear cleaner such as Pro-Otic ensures that the ear canals stay free and clear of dirt and prevent possible re-infection. Balia’s new adopter should be prepared to continue regular ear cleaning maintenance for her health.
Balia is a very special and unique personality and she amply rewards your love and attention. She is a real treasure both in her affection, personality, playfulness and her gorgeous, hypnotic eyes. She would love a home that appreciates her confident personality and gives her the space to thrive. Balia should be adopted by an experienced cat owner who can meet her needs and should be the only pet in the home.

Additional adoption info
Adoption fee is $250 per adult cat, and $330 for kittens (under 8 months old).
This ensures that the cats that come into our care receive the attention they need, are spayed or neutered, and receive a rabies vaccination at the appropriate age. For City of Toronto residents, the adoption fee includes a mandatory City of Toronto cat license that is valid for one year. As you can imagine, these fees only begin to cover our costs; donations and ongoing fundraising efforts carry us the rest of the way!
Note:
-Senior cats (8 years or older) have an adoption fee of the adopter's choice, vs. our standard adult adoption fee of $250.
-Our adoption fee for an adult bonded pair (8 months or older) is $192.50 per cat vs. $385 per cat. Thanks for giving two loving friends a home together!
