DOG TEST: (Okay with Dogs) Bella is super playful with other dogs!
CAT TEST: (Needs Testing) Bella still needs to be tested around cats here at the shelter.
KID TEST: (Okay with Older Kids) Bella has a tendency to jump and seems like she would do best with older kids that can handle her size and energy until she can learn more manners. HOUSE BROKEN: (Needs Training) Bella seems to be potty pad trained but does not seem to be completely potty trained. ENERGY LEVEL: (High) Bella is a small pup with a big drive to run! This girl runs endlessly in the back yard with other dogs. Bella loves people and has never met a stranger. Bella loves to be by her humans all the time and is always down for some snuggles!
LEASH WALKING: (Needs Work) Bella is eager to go outside on walks and tends to pull hard on the leash. KNOWN COMMANDS: Sit (No) Down (No) Stay (No) Shake (No) Drop (No)

Our shelter is open 7 days a week. (Excluding holidays).
Monday- Friday 8am-5pm
Saturday- Sunday 10am-2pm
We ask that you come visit any time between open and no later than 30 minutes prior to closing. This ensures that staff will have enough time to assist you in meeting one of our great furry friends!

More about this shelter
We are a Municipal Animal Shelter for the City of Lee's Summit. We house animals brought in by Lee's Summit Animal Control Officers and Blue Springs Animal Control Officers.
Animals are also brought to us by owners that can no longer keep the animal or by strays that were impounded for running loose.
When an animal comes in as a stray, it is held for 5 days to give the owner a chance to claim it. If the owner does not claim it, on the 6th day it is put up for adoption or foster. During this 5 day holding period, if a potential adopter would like to adopt the animal, they are welcome to sign up on the adoption list. The names on the adoption list are contacted on the 6th day if no owner has made claim.
If there are no names on the adoption list, then the animal will become first come, first served when available for adoption.
