*********Please read bio fully before responding. We appreciate your interest in one of our dogs and it would be very helpful when you respond if you share information about yourself(home/yard, work hours, other pets, kids, dog experience..) Also, we do have an application at sparrowdogs.com that we will need in order to proceed with the adoption. THANK YOU!!
We recently took in four dogs from an overcrowding situation, a home that just had way to many dogs! We are totally guessing at the breed(s) that may be involved in this crew, lol. I can see Maltese, perhaps some sort of terrier, maybe even a little bit of Chihuahua? Who knows, but we do know they are just adorable.
The little family had been at a shelter for a time and were just not settling in, they were terrified. Yes, they were safe and warm, and cared for. But, despite that, it was not home, whatever that may have been. We are happy to say they are doing great on their foster home, they settled in very well being back in a home situation. That happened quicker than expected, within the first day they were anxious to be picked up and snuggled on a warm lap. They all love their toys, snuggly beds and quick trips out in this bitter cold.
They are doing well with their house training. We do use potty pads and they will use them in between outdoor breaks. They are also shy meeting new people, it is a big new world out here and they need a little patience. So, we are looking for very loving, patient people that understand these guys need a little extra TLC, as far as settling in and continued reinforcement on the potty training. Their coats are in the process of healing as well, very common in such situations. Some of the had a bit of thinner hair that should soon fill in nicely in a more healthy situation.
Lil Jelly Roll is a sweet, loving, active and snuggly guy. You would never know that he had ever had a rough day in his life. Of the four dogs that came from the crowded situation, he is the most outgoing and social. If there is a lap to be had in the house, Jelly will gladly warm it for you!! He is terrific with the other dogs and is a very gentle boy, he wants a family to love and appreciate all that he has to offer. We think he is pretty fantastic!! He is doing well with his potty training, and loves being outside running and playing. He will do well in a home that has tons of time to spend with him, another dog or two would be great!
Jelly's adoption fee is $400. Please email Kristine at joysparrows@gmail.com.

We have an online application on our website, sparrowdogs.com. Requirements vary as per the individual dog's needs as far as time alone, children, other pets, fenced yard vs. leash walking and such. Our adoption donations can range from $99 for less adoptable/older dogs, and higher for puppies and other highly sought after dogs(which helps us take in needy often medically challenged dogs and cats.)
Our contract states we have the right to visit the dog, check up periodically as well as take the dog back if necessary. We get first right to the dog if adopter chooses not to keep him. We want all adopters to realize this is a serious commitment and want our dogs to go to safe, loving homes.

Go meet their pets
We periodically have adoption events, check out our website for more info! But-most of our adoption do occur at our foster home where we feel the dog or cat will be much more relaxed and the adoptive family will be able to get a better idea of the dog/cats temperament.

More about this rescue
All of our pets are in foster homes, from Sheridan to Chicago, IL We take in many special needs dogs, some physically, mentally or behaviorally challenged. Some of them have been abused or neglected, many are seniors, most just need some understanding and patience. A lot of them have never heard a vacuum before or even felt a kind pat on their heads. Fostering them prepares them for the life they so richly deserve when a kind person adopts from us. When you adopt a shelter dog, you are making a giant step in reducing euthanasia for all these great dogs looking for a home. It is not their fault, it is the fault of the human that previously was involved in their life. Thanks for checking out our website, maybe you will find the pal of your dreams.
